Hawarden — The Hawarden City Council on Feb. 11 approved a set of routine motions in unanimous votes, including the Jan. 28 minutes, an added construction claim from BP Construction for $34,470, approval of all claims, a reappointment to the Board of Zoning Adjustment, and two liquor-license actions.
Council approved adding a late claim from BP Construction for $34,470 to cover plumbing, HVAC and counter work on the shelter-house project so subcontractors could be paid that session. After adding the claim, council approved the full claims list as presented; both motions passed 5-0.
The mayor presented a reappointment for Jack Andela to the Board of Zoning Adjustment for a five-year term; council approved the appointment 5-0 and thanked Andela for his service. The consent agenda — renewal of a Class E retail alcohol license for Sunshine Foods effective April 2, 2026, and a new Class C retail license for the Old City Hall effective Feb. 21, 2026 — was approved without discussion, 5-0.
