Polk County 4‑H and extension report highlights growing youth participation

Eddie Turk, vice president of the Livingston 4‑H club and a member of district and state councils, said meetings had strong attendance and noted program growth in shooting sports and livestock projects. "This year we were glad to have 56 members enrolled" in the shotgun program, Turk said, and he thanked county support for facilities and program development.
Turk and extension staff also said several county members will represent Polk County at the Houston and San Antonio rodeos and that youth participated in district and state competitions for food‑nutrition and other contests. Commissioners expressed appreciation and invited staff to continue outreach and reporting to the court.
