Board approves roughly 3,000 acres of additions to county agricultural and forestal districts

The Louisa County Board of Supervisors on April 27 approved multiple additions to Agricultural and Forestal Districts, a package staff said totals roughly 3,000 acres.
Planning staff described five separate public hearings and recommendations from the Ag & Forestal Committee and the Planning Commission. The proposals included:
- Goldmine Creek: five parcels totaling about 402.2 acres near Route 621/613 in the Mineral voting district; applicants named and a resident spoke in support.
- Ellisville: a large addition across 33 parcels totaling approximately 2,047 acres; staff said the area is used for timber, crops and livestock.
- South Anna: eight parcels totaling 413.264 acres located southeast of State Route 208.
- Taylor’s Creek: four parcels totaling about 79.87 acres adjacent to the core area.
- Indian Creek: two parcels totaling 25.8 acres deemed agriculturally significant in the Cuckoo voting district.
Planning staff said each proposal had been recommended for approval by the Ag & Forestal Committee and the Planning Commission; the board opened and closed public hearings with minimal spoken public input and voted to approve each addition unanimously.
Board members praised staff outreach and the number of acres under consideration, and noted the approvals preserve working farmland and forestry uses under the county’s land-development regulations.
