The Osceola City Council on July 16 approved multiple property actions and routine city business, including disposals of two properties by sealed bid, conveyance of a vacated alley to neighbors and alley paving in the Adkins Addition.
Council member George Fotiadis moved to proceed with disposal of 500 S. Fillmore via a sealed-bid process; Council member Dan Hooper seconded the motion and the roll call vote recorded four ayes and the motion carried. The council took the same action for 101 S. Delaware, approving a sealed-bid disposal on a motion by Fotiadis and second by Hooper with all four voting aye.
The council approved conveyance of a vacated alley in Block 8 of West Osceola to neighboring property owners on a motion by Fotiadis, seconded by Thomas Bahls. The roll call vote was Fotiadis aye; Hooper abstain; Bahls aye; Vargas aye (three ayes, one abstention), and the conveyance motion carried.
Council also approved paving an alley in Block 2 of the Adkins Addition on a motion by Jose Vargas, seconded by George Fotiadis. The recorded vote was Fotiadis aye; Hooper nay; Bahls aye; Vargas aye (three ayes, one nay), and the paving motion passed by majority.
Separately, the council approved donating a mower from Park & Rec to the Clarke County Historical Society on a motion by Dan Hooper, seconded by George Fotiadis; the motion carried with one recorded dissent from Thomas Bahls.
On a consent-agenda motion by Council member Dan Hooper, seconded by George Fotiadis, the council approved bills and claims, minutes from the June 2 meeting, a new liquor license for Osceola Liquor (715 W. McLane), a tobacco permit for Family Dollar, Pay Estimate 37 (Contract 1, PWC) for $929,869.50 and Pay Estimate 6 for the CDBG Façade Project for $82,377.91. The published claims list produced a grand total of $371,791.86 across the reported funds.
The meeting adjourned at 8:38 p.m.; no additional action was taken on other agenda items at that time.
