Nance County approves 10,000-gallon off-road fuel contract after 5–2 vote

Highway Superintendent Tony Bernt presented pricing options and recommended contracting 10,000 gallons at an agreed rate to stabilize fuel costs. Supervisors Robert Voichoskie, Ralph Horacek, Scott Russell, Andrew Ditter and Chairman Timothy Cornwell voted in favor; Supervisors Darren Nelson and Steve Crouse voted against the motion. The motion was moved and seconded and carried.
Bernt also reported that the county's 2024 Valley Road flood repair is complete and staff will finalize paperwork to FEMA. He noted upcoming work on N 320th Street and described the right-of-way marking and planned work on N 200th, north of Valley Road; the board requested County Attorney letters informing landowners of potential fence impacts when right-of-way work occurs.
The board directed the Highway Department to proceed with contracted work and to continue coordinating paperwork for FEMA reimbursement.
