Osceola council approves changes to sewer service charges, strikes monthly surcharge

The Osceola City Council adopted Ordinance 680 on Oct. 1 to revise Section 99.03 (Rates and Charges) governing sewer user charges. The motion to approve the third reading was moved by Councilmember George Fotiadis and seconded by Councilmember Dan Hooper; the roll call vote was unanimous.
Under the amended code language recorded in the meeting materials, residential users will be charged $6.00 per 1,000 gallons of potable water delivered; commercial users $8.15 per 1,000 gallons; Industrial Class A and Industrial Class B users $7.00 per 1,000 gallons; and a high‑volume rate is set at $7.00 per 1,000 gallons. The ordinance also strikes the prior $28.00 monthly sewer surcharge (Section 99.03(2) was removed). The ordinance states it takes effect immediately after passage and publication.
Council did not record any amendments to the proposed rates during the meeting. City staff will implement the new rate schedule in billing systems and publish the ordinance as required.
