The Swisher City Council took several formal actions during its July 8 meeting. Key votes included:

- Approve WWTP blower repair: council authorized replacing the failed variable-frequency drive on blower number one so the unit can return to service.
- Authorize solicitation of three bids for removal of hazardous trees at Cass Park: motion carried; staff to obtain three bids and return with cost estimates and funding recommendations.
- Approve event permit: Swisher Men's Club Car Show scheduled Sept. 7 approved, including street closures.
- Resolution 45-2024: Appoint Emily Carlson to the Swisher Community Fund Board of Trustees — approved by roll call to help reach a quorum for the board.
- Resolution 46-2024: Approve payout #3 to contractor B. Schmid for the ongoing project — approved by roll call; project phasing confirmed.
- Resolution 47-2024: Approve change order #2 adding $7,613.32 to the DMID Construction sanitary sewer contract — approved by roll call after staff described unexpected pipe conditions discovered during dewatering.
- Ordinance 6-2024: Placed on first reading to amend Chapter 165.29 (supplementary district regulations) and motioned to place it on final reading for subsequent consideration.
Several other items were discussed but not acted on, including a longer debate about ditch/mowing policy for annexed rural areas and broader sidewalk liability implications stemming from a recent state court decision.
Roll-call votes were recorded where noted in the meeting packet; most procedural motions were approved by voice vote. Staff will return with follow-up reports, bid results and recommended code language where requested.
