The Village of Hicksville is preparing a Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) grant application to fund downtown streetscape improvements, Administrator Cory Wann told council on Nov. 17.
Choice One Engineering is assembling the application. The proposed scope includes curb and sidewalk upgrades to meet Americans with Disabilities Act standards, roadway and sidewalk lighting enhancements, and traffic-control device updates at the High Street and Main Street intersection. Wann said the project will not include a roadway median or changes to downtown parking.
Village staff plan to schedule streetscape construction to align with a planned Ohio Department of Transportation paving project in 2029, which administrators say will reduce duplicate work and limit downtown disruptions.
No formal vote was taken on the TAP application during the meeting; staff said they are preparing the application materials for submission.
