Mayor Michael Barth recommended hiring Brayton Fogle as a Laborer Class II at the wastewater treatment plant; Council Member Charlie Martin moved to approve the recommendation and Council Member Eric Bassett seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
EMS Chief Bruce Silcott reported monthly and year-to-date call volumes and several personnel changes: Felix Salinas and Isaac Wilhelm will begin paramedic classes in October, Hannah Kirkham will begin maternity leave on Sept. 25, and long-time EMT Bob Meyer plans to retire Dec. 31. To fill staffing needs the mayor recommended hiring two certified Basic EMTs—McKenzie Raatz and Kyle Recker. Charlie Martin moved to accept the mayor’s recommendation; Toni Egly seconded and all voted yes.
Silcott also noted a Project 86 mental health awareness training session scheduled for Sept. 17 at 7 p.m. The hires and training move forward staffing plans for the village’s emergency services and prepare for scheduled leaves and the forthcoming retirement.
