The Hicksville Village Council on Monday accepted Administrator Cory Wann’s recommendation to hire Brian Demland as the village’s zoning official.
Wann told council that Demland has 15 years of law-enforcement experience in Indiana and that Mayor Michael Barth recommended him. Councilman Charlie Martin moved to accept the recommendation, Ron Beverly seconded, and the motion passed with all voting yes.
Wann also informed council that Allen Schooley will be leaving his position with the village; Schooley’s final day was announced as Sept. 22. The mayor later thanked “Bub Schooley” for 20 years of employment during his remarks, a name that appears differently in two places in the meeting record; the transcript uses both "Allen Schooley" and "Bub Schooley." The council did not provide a start date for Demland or further detail about transition duties, and Wann said the village has not received applications yet for the Street Department vacancy.
Council recorded no objections to the hire and took the personnel actions by motion during the meeting.
