Council approves site plan, asbestos inspections, demolition, appointments and EMS storage agreement

The Swisher City Council approved a series of routine and project-related resolutions at its July 22 meeting.

- Resolution 48 (2024): Approved the site plan and updated final plat for the Swisher 60 subdivision (motion carried on roll call). - Resolution 49 (2024): Approved a proposal from Environet for asbestos inspection and reporting for two garages in the downtown park (motion carried). - Resolution 50 (2024): Awarded a contract to Midwest Demo Contractors for $16,400 to demolish two garages and construct gravel parking in the downtown park; council approved the award but said demolition scheduling could await the Board of Adjustment decision on a related garage matter. - Resolution 51 (2024): Appointed Lindy, Karen and Craig to the Swisher Committee Board of Trustees with staggered term expirations as recorded; council approved the appointments by roll call. - Resolution 52 (2024): Approved a five-year storage agreement with Johnson County EMS to store non-response equipment (EMS trailer, antique fire truck, excess equipment) in the garage behind City Hall; the agreement includes a 90-day early-termination clause and places contents insurance responsibility on the lessee; motion carried.

Each resolution was moved, seconded and approved by roll call or voice vote as shown in the minutes. Where noted, council asked staff to coordinate scheduling (for demolition) and to confirm any required Board of Adjustment actions before physical work proceeds.
