Choice One Engineering presented three example designs for Hicksville’s downtown corridor and advised the village to begin the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) safety grant process, which has paperwork due in November.
Jim Morrisey, representing Choice One, said the examples are adjustable to the village’s needs and that ODOT grant funds target safety-related downtown improvements based on corridor studies and crash data. Council members gave mixed feedback about the presented examples; after discussion the council decided to invite every business in the downtown corridor to a meeting at the Huber to review the designs and next steps for the grant application.
Choice One will proceed with the grant application timeline pending further input from downtown property and business owners. The council emphasized selecting a design that fits local preferences and safety needs before finalizing an application.
