The West Stockbridge Select Board on April 27 authorized the Berkshire Regional Planning Commission (BRPC) to submit a One Stop for Growth grant application to fund a housing feasibility study for town-owned sites.
Brett Roberts, BRPC principal planner for housing, told the board BRPC would prepare and submit the application on the town's behalf and that there would be no cost to the Town if BRPC applies. Roberts said BRPC would manage any awarded grant funds and produce a pre-development package that could include site exploration, infrastructure plans, schematic designs and a bid packet for site design. He said BRPC would involve the Planning Board and the Affordable Housing Trust if the grant is awarded.
The action was taken by motion: Kathleen Keresey moved to allow BRPC to proceed with submitting the One Stop for Growth application; Andy Krouss seconded. The board voted unanimously to approve the motion.
The feasibility study described by BRPC is intended to identify potential housing sites on Town properties and create materials useful for design and procurement. The board did not commit Town funds; BRPC stated the work would be funded through the grant and administered by BRPC if awarded. No timeline for submission or award was specified in the meeting record.
The Select Board also approved other routine business at the same meeting and adjourned at 5:44 p.m.
