Town Administrator Marie Y. Ryan said the Select Board will convene a Special Town Meeting at 6:00 PM on Monday, June 29 to consider four warrant articles that would cover overages in the town budget.
Ryan said she met with Town Accountant Elaine Markham and Finance Committee Chair Bob Salerno to draft the needed articles and that she will have the language and a warrant prepared for review by town counsel and the Select Board in about a week. "I met with the Town Accountant and the Finance Committee chair to discuss the articles required to cover the overages," Ryan said.
The Select Board agreed to the proposed date. The warrant will be finalized and circulated for review before the meeting. No vote outcomes on specific articles were taken at the June 1 meeting; the articles and their language will be reviewed at a later meeting and by town counsel.
The Special Town Meeting is the next procedural step for the town to secure authority to adjust appropriations to cover the current fiscal shortfalls. Residents seeking more information should consult the town's warrant once it is posted on the new town website.
