Daggett County MBA approves Union Telephone amendment to add dedicated 1 Gbps line for new health center

The Daggett County Municipal Building Authority on Feb. 17 approved a modification to its master service agreement with Union Telephone to add a dedicated, uninterruptible 1 gigabit-per-second Internet line to the new Daggett County Health Business and Community Center.

At the meeting, Jesse Platt, a project representative present at the courthouse, said Union Telephone escalated the request internally and agreed to a price match, which the board called a much better deal than retail. “They were able to take it to the C‑level of their organization to price match and get us a much better deal,” Platt said. He said retail pricing for a dedicated line would have been roughly $1,650 per month, but under the amendment the county will be billed $7.56 per month per building and a one‑time $5.50 installation charge.

Platt described the service as “1 gig up, 1 gig down,” and said the dedicated line will be apportioned so the clinic and other providers each pay their share through rental agreements. The board discussed that the new line will serve the Daggett County Health Business and Community Center and that partners occupying the facility will reimburse their portion of the cost.

A committee member (speaker S2) moved to approve the service order/addendum; the motion was seconded and the board approved the amendment by voice vote. Agreement number 2102036 was cited during the motion. The meeting record shows two recorded "Aye" responses during that vote. After the approval the members confirmed the clerk would accept a photocopy of the signed agreement for filing.

The amendment to the county's master service agreement with Union Telephone is intended to integrate connectivity for the new health center with costs recovered from facility partners. The Municipal Building Authority adjourned at 9:45 a.m.
