Denton trustees approve surplus property resolution, set fireworks date; other business tabled or reviewed

Surplus hay and resolution: The board reviewed bids for eight large round brome hay bales; a single bid of $35 was below the minimum bid of $65 stated in the proposed resolution. Trustees adopted Resolution No. 25-1-1 and Resolution 25-2-1 concerning surplus property sales; the record also notes that four bales at the wellhouse will be destroyed because of thorny locust trees.
Keno and financial review: Trustees reviewed the 2024 annual Keno report prepared by HBE, LLC (Dec. gross proceeds $587,076.15; village share $41,382.06) and considered an audit waiver and an Independent Accountants’ Compilation Report prepared by HBE, LLC.
Events and committees: Trustees approved setting the annual fireworks show for July 5, 2025 (motion by Trustee Wheatley, seconded by Trustee Fangmeier). Discussion considered increasing the fireworks budget from the current $4,500 to $5,500, but the meeting record shows only that the date was set. Trustee Amanda Fangmeier volunteered to serve as the board representative for a park and playground improvement committee; the board asked to add a scoreboard discussion to a future agenda.
Other items: Questions about zoning for the Omel property and a proposed social media policy were tabled for future meetings. Trustees approved Claims List A $27,837.77; Claims List B $8,158.25; January payroll $9,386.73; and Keno checking claims $17,157.50. The meeting adjourned at 10:04 p.m.
