Denton trustees ask attorney to redraft keno contract, lowering village and operator payouts

The Village of Denton Board of Trustees voted on Dec. 2 to ask the village attorney to re-draft the village’s keno contract to reduce the payouts to both the village and the operator, according to the minutes.
Trustee Amanda Fangmeier moved, and Doug Rosekrans seconded, to request that the village attorney re-draft the keno contract so the village’s share of gross proceeds would drop from 7% to 5% and the operator’s payout would drop from 13% to 11%. The motion carried.
The minutes note the current keno contract expires in July 2025 and that the board discussed a proposed two-year amendment. The motion directs the attorney to prepare new contract language; the minutes do not record a final, executed contract or an effective date for any change to revenue distributions.
Any future change to the village or operator shares would take effect only if and when the board approves a final contract amendment and documents that approval in the minutes.
