Denton trustees elect Joe Hobelman chair, complete 2025 appointments

Joe Hobelman was elected chair of the Village of Denton Board of Trustees on Dec. 2, 2024, winning a private-ballot vote three to two, the board recorded.
The meeting, held at the Denton Community Center, opened at 6:35 p.m. Ryan Osborn took the oath of office as a trustee. With the board conducting its reorganization, Clerk-Treasurer Charlotte Te Brink was appointed chair pro tem to preside over nominations.
Trenton Wheatley nominated Hobelman for chair and Doug Rosekrans nominated Amanda Fangmeier. After nominations were closed, the private ballot produced three votes for Hobelman and two for Fangmeier, making Hobelman chairman for a two-year term, the minutes show.
The board also approved a slate of 2025 appointments. Doug Rosekrans moved — and Ryan Osborn seconded — to appoint Maureen Freeman-Cady as village attorney; Justin Stark as street superintendent; Ross Blackledge as water/sewer commissioner; Amanda Fangmeier as emergency management coordinator; Joe Hobelman as floodplain administrator; and Charlotte Te Brink as clerk-treasurer and zoning administrator. The motion carried.
Separately, the board designated three public posting locations for official notices: the Denton Daily Double, the Denton Post Office and the Community Center.
The board certified the meeting minutes at the close of the session. The next regular meeting was set for Jan. 6, 2025, where the board will open sealed bids for items it is offering for sale, according to later agenda items.
