Council hears first reading to correct zoning mislabeling and allow mobile-home replacement

City Manager Mark Musselwhite told the council that he, Jessie Owensby and City Attorney Thomas Mitchell have been reviewing recommended amendments to the zoning ordinance and discovered a parcel mislabeled as "agriculture" that should instead be classified for mobile homes.
Under the current zoning language, Musselwhite said, a mobile home on the parcel could not be replaced. Musselwhite presented an ordinance amendment to clarify or add a mobile-home definition and allow replacement under the corrected zoning classification. The proposed change was read as a first reading; the council did not take a final vote during the work session.
Staff said they will continue reviewing Jessie Owensby's recommended edits to the zoning ordinance and return with the formal language and any required maps or notices for later readings.
