The Demorest Downtown Development Authority on March 5 reviewed plans to promote community events this year, including the Chattahoochee Mountain Fair, July 4 festivities, a Monday Music Series and a community yard sale.
Directors noted the Chattahoochee Mountain Fair draws high foot traffic — approximately 17,000 attendees — and discussed outreach ideas such as distributing bottled water, partnering with local merchants and offering daily gift certificates during the nine-day event.
On July 4 directors reviewed a schedule of events that includes an 11 a.m. parade, live music from 1–5 p.m., a cake walk from 5–6 p.m. and evening headliners. The board flagged a question about whether cake donations must be store-bought for legal compliance; directors also proposed placing a balloon artist near the Demorest T-shirt vendor to help promote sales and printing merchants' names on event T-shirts.
The Monday Music Series was discussed as a potential summer attraction. Directors proposed a June 1 start date (contingent on pavilion upgrades) with performances in June and August. Estimated costs for a single event were discussed: about $170 for one port-a-potty or $325 for two, roughly $300 for a bouncy house, and a total per-event cost of about $700.
Directors also recorded a community yard sale scheduled for April 4–5 and listed Andrew Ferguson as the organizer. The meeting did not record formal votes on event funding or vendor agreements.
