Rothschild board proclaims Oct. 15 White Cane Safety Day

Administrator Ryan VanDeWalle explained that October is Pedestrian Safety Month and that the proclamation aims to show support for residents who use white canes or otherwise experience vision loss, and to promote safe travel and mobility in public spaces. The board approved the proclamation by a unanimous 7-0 vote (motion Ehster/Jablonski).
Why it matters: The proclamation is intended as an awareness and public-safety measure to highlight pedestrian safety needs and support accessible use of village sidewalks, trails and public spaces. No policy or spending changes were recorded with the proclamation; it is an official expression of support.
