Rothschild approves e-recycling events and joins Marathon County recycling agreement

The Village Board on Sept. 8 approved two items intended to support recycling and reduce local disposal costs.
Administrator Ryan VanDeWalle presented a draft Memorandum of Understanding with PC Computer Recycling, owned by Patrick Cherek, to host two electronic recycling drives available to village residents. Most items would be accepted free of charge; tube televisions and tube monitors would be charged $0.50 per pound. The board approved holding the first event Oct. 20, 2025, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the DPW shop located off Leon/Fred Street. The motion to approve the e‑recycling MOU was made by Deb Ehster, seconded by Jason Jablonski, and carried 7–0.
Clerk Elizabeth Felkner explained that the village has participated in the Marathon County Responsible Units cooperative agreement for waste reduction, reuse and recycling education for several years. The one-year agreement allows the village to apply for the DNR Recycling Consolidation Grant to offset recycling costs. The board approved the Marathon County agreement by motion of Jason Jablonski, second Sam Stroik (carried 7–0).
