Rothschild board backs Weston Avenue multi-use path grant application

The Village of Rothschild Village Board on Oct. 13 adopted Resolution 2025-07 to support a Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) grant application to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for a multi-use trail on Weston Avenue.
Timothy Vergara, Administrator of Public Works, told the board the Village amended its Capital Improvement Plan to include the Weston Avenue trail from Volkman Street to Alderson Street and that the project met the Wausau Metropolitan Planning Organization (Wausau MPO) submittal deadline in September. Vergara recommended that the board approve a resolution so staff could submit the required documentation to WisDOT by the end-of-month deadline.
Bill Schremp moved approval of the resolution, and Sam Stroik seconded. The motion carried unanimously, 7–0.
The resolution authorizes the Village to seek TAP funding through WisDOT; the meeting minutes do not specify the grant amount, local matching requirements or project schedule. The board did not discuss alternative funding sources or construction timing during the Oct. 13 meeting. The Village will proceed with the WisDOT submittal as authorized by the resolution.
