Lower Salford details $640,000 road program and timetable

Public works director Mr. Jones told the Board the township’s 2026 road program will include three primary treatments and is fully funded from the liquid fuels account. "About 2.63 miles of roadway will be resurfaced at a cost of about $275,000" using a cape-seal treatment, he said, and an "ultra thin wearing course" (Nova chip) will cover about 1.21 miles at roughly $215,000. A separate four-inch overlay project on Ross Mill Creek was estimated at about $150,000, putting the total program at about $640,000.
The board was given route details and prioritization: cape seal segments are being started now, with crews conducting chip-seal stages and training on-site. Mr. Jones described related preparatory work including base repairs on Rossone/Indian Creek Road and installation of an underdrain where prior patches had failed. He said the work aims to address recurring water intrusion and improve long-term pavement performance.
The liquid fuels fund will cover the estimated cost, Mr. Jones said. Board members asked operational questions about resident notices and access during cape-seal operations. Staff noted a QR-code explanatory video was distributed to residents to reduce confusion about parking and timing. The board also heard that some projects (Yoda Road sidewalk) will require grant extensions because existing grants expire June 30, 2027, and staff expect to seek an extension once construction begins.
The board did not take final votes on any contract awards during the discussion; the Old Drive right-turn widening and sidewalk project remains on the agenda for a future award pending final easement work and Stephanie’s bid recommendation.
