Jenny Stelzner, public health nurse for the Marquette County Health Department, told the board she had secured a grant from the American Heart Association to support a “Libraries with Heart” program placing automated blood‑pressure monitors in county libraries. The program will allow community members to use monitors on site or check them out for home use; each participating library will maintain a binder with educational materials and guidance about next steps for managing blood pressure.
Stelzner said libraries were chosen because there are six branches in the county and staff there are strong partners for community health outreach. The department produced brochures describing the program for distribution at the library sites.
