Marquette County's Transportation Coordinating Committee on Dec. 4, 2025 approved the 85.21-2026 application and voted to submit it to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
Committee members reviewed a 53.10 Cycle 49 van procurement with a federal award of $62,146 and a required county match of $20,715 (25%), producing a total vehicle price of $82,861. Staff outlined a list of desired upgrades costing $5,175 (including a 1,000 lb. lift and stainless running boards) and a proposed $1,500 wrap; because of budget constraints the group discussed prioritizing mechanical and accessibility upgrades over cosmetic wraps.
Laird Dickson moved to approve the 85.21 application and submit it to WisDOT; Nancy Charles seconded the motion and the committee approved it. Jan Krueger and Steve Moore reported on ridership increases to Madison and the need for capacity planning as demand grows.
Next steps: staff will submit the application to WisDOT and continue work on upgrade budgeting and vehicle configurations.
