Hamilton County Commission defers two resolutions, schedules committee meetings

The Hamilton County Commission read two resolutions during an agenda session and agreed to take both up at a later meeting, then adjourned into committee hearings.

The clerk read Resolution 726-17, described as "a resolution to approve and accept applications for notary public positions, the bonds and oaths of notaries previously elected, the oath of deputy county clerk, the official bond of the public administrator, and the certificate of discharge by the board of equalization." Commissioners did not conduct a vote on the item; the body agreed to consider it at the next meeting.

The clerk also read Resolution 726-18, confirming the county mayor's reappointment of Todd Leman to the Southeast Tennessee Solid Waste Planning Region Board for a term ending July 21, 2031. No discussion was raised and the commission deferred action on the resolution to the next meeting.

Officials announced committee assignments and the immediate transition to committee meetings. Finance and budget had already met earlier; public safety, and public works and zoning committees were scheduled to convene after the agenda session. Chairman Smith indicated that Commissioner Highlander would cover five resolutions for the public works and zoning committee, and that matters left by Commissioner Beck, who had departed the session, would be handled by another member.

The commission adjourned the agenda session and set the next full meeting for July 15 at 5:00 p.m.; committee meetings began immediately following adjournment.
