Brandon Bagby was sworn in as a patrol officer for the City of Independence during the city council meeting on Sept. 8.
Mayor Brad Blackner administered the oath; Bagby recited the pledge to support the U.S. Constitution and the Constitution of the State of Iowa and to discharge the duties of a patrol officer faithfully and impartially. Bagby signed the required forms and was welcomed by council and attendees.
The mayor and council noted the swearing-in as part of regular personnel business and congratulated the new officer before returning to the meeting agenda.
