Finance committee signs off on multiple year‑end transfers, including Medicare, election and facilities adjustments

The Finance Committee approved several year-end municipal transfers to close out FY26 accounts and cover unbudgeted or underbudgeted expenses.
The committee approved a $13,610 transfer from the Medicare/insurance town-share account to the town administrator salary line to cover overlapping interim wages, and a separate $1,825 transfer to the assessor’s office. Both motions were made, seconded and carried by voice vote.
Members also approved multiple smaller transfers tied to election costs and town operations, including $1,600 from general liability insurance to the town court salary line for an unbudgeted special election, $1,823 to cover additional election wages and recount-related costs, and a $296 transfer from street-listing professional services to the town clerk’s special-election account. A transfer of about $6,659.78 from highway operations to facilities professional services was approved to cover end-of-year facilities work.
The committee agreed to transfer $8,834 from the veterans benefit account to cover interest on a short-term loan, noting an unusually large unspent balance in the veteran-benefits bucket.
Committee members also discussed procedural timing: July 15 is the deadline for completing municipal year-end transfers, so the committee tentatively scheduled a July 14 meeting if additional transfer articles are needed. The meeting adjourned by voice vote.
All transfers approved at the meeting were recorded by the committee and will be processed by the town accounting office.
