Town officials said the changes were within the allocations previously approved at town meeting for salary and contract reserves and that the agreement is intended to help the town's officers, whom officials described as being at the low end of the pay range. The interim town administrator and the union negotiated the agreement; the select board authorized the administrator to execute the agreement and the board will sign out of session.
Board members thanked police officers and union representatives for their work on the negotiations. The board also noted that clerical union negotiations remained under discussion and would come back for future action.
