Brundidge council approves $1.5 million wastewater contract, tables control-building award

The Brundidge City Council on Sept. 16, 2025, approved Resolution No. 2025-13 to award a $1,499,037 contract to Blankenship Contracting for wastewater treatment improvements, approved a $55,250 aerator mooring contract, tabled the Control Building contract due to over-budget bids, approved a FY2025 budget amendment and agreed to drop litigation with Eeztec.
The Brundidge City Council on Sept. 16, 2025, approved Resolution No. 2025-13 to award Contract 1 — Treatment and Collection System Improvements at the wastewater treatment plant — to Blankenship Contracting, Inc. for a bid amount of $1,499,037. Mayor Boyd called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall in Brundidge.
Mrs. Rodgers, a council member, moved to approve the resolution on the City Engineer's recommendation; Mr. Gaynor seconded the motion and all members present voted yea. The resolution directs the city to proceed with the Contract 1 scope as recommended by the City Engineer.
Council members also addressed related wastewater work. Because bids for the Control Building (Contract 2) came in over budget, Mrs. Hall moved to table the award of Contract 2 pending further research; Mr. Gaynor seconded the motion and the council voted unanimously to table it. Separately, the council approved a proposal from Blankenship Contracting to provide and install new mooring for all aerators and mixers at the wastewater treatment plant for $55,250; Mrs. Rodgers moved the approval and Mr. Gaynor seconded, with all voting yea.
On budget matters, the City Clerk reviewed FY2025 Budget Amendment No. 2. Mrs. Rodgers moved to approve the amendment, Mr. Gaynor seconded, and the council unanimously adopted the amendment as presented. The council also voted to continue the FY2025 budget until the FY2026 budget is approved, a motion made by Mrs. Rodgers and seconded by Mrs. Hall.
The City Manager informed the council that Eeztec had dropped its legal action against the city. Following that report, Mrs. Rodgers moved and Mrs. Hall seconded a motion for the city to drop its legal action against Eeztec so the matter could be resolved; the council approved the motion unanimously.
There was no further business. Mrs. Rodgers moved to adjourn, Mrs. Hall seconded, and the meeting was adjourned. Linda Faust, City Clerk, later certified the minutes, which are on file at 200 North Main Street, Brundidge.
