County assessment office mails notices tied to ratio change; appeals due Aug. 10

Cindy, representing the assessment board, told residents at the July 1 Pike County meeting that July 1 is the Pennsylvania statute mailing deadline for notices related to the county’s predetermined ratio change in the reassessment process.
She said the mailed notices will show assessed values in the familiar 25% basis and also show market value at 100% (both based on 1994 values). Cindy emphasized this step is "part one," not a revaluation or full reassessment, and that taxpayers will see information intended to illustrate the ratio change rather than immediate tax changes.
“July 1 is the mailing deadline by Pennsylvania statute to mail the change of assessment notices for the predetermined ratio change that the county is implementing,” Cindy said, and noted that residents have until Aug. 10 to file an appeal. She offered to remain after the meeting with associates to answer questions and provide assistance to residents.
