Thomaston hires Colleen Cook as Economic & Community Engagement Manager and advances Main Street workplan

The Downtown Development Authority on March 19 introduced Colleen Cook as the city’s new Economic & Community Engagement Manager. Cook described her prior service as Main Street Director for the City of Locust Grove, where she oversaw Downtown Development Authority, Historic Preservation Commission and Main Street Advisory Board affairs.
Board members provided input on how a local Main Street board should be established and operated alongside the DDA. Economic Development Director Taylor Smith said he was "ecstatic" that Cook was joining the Thomaston Main Street team and asked members to share guidance for how the Main Street program should function locally.
The board also reviewed four proposed transformation strategies for the 2026 Main Street workplan—Beautification & Design; Business Activation & Development; Transportation & Pedestrian Experience; and Tourism. Members discussed the "why" and prospective goals for each strategy; Smith said he would incorporate board feedback and present a finalized set of goals at the April meeting.
