Butler County renewed its FY27 ICAP (Iowa Communities Assurance Pool) insurance policy at the Board’s June 23 meeting, accepting a 2.5% overall premium increase. Chad Campbell presented the renewal and noted workers’ compensation premiums decreased slightly.
Campbell presented alternate quotes for increased cyber liability; the quote to raise cyber coverage was priced at an additional $10,000 in premium. IT Director Sara Trepp advised the Board that the increase in cyber coverage was not needed. The Board discussed options to raise property deductibles to reduce premiums and considered budgeting a deductible line item. Motion by Eddy, second by Dralle to renew the FY27 ICAP policy maintaining the same cyber liability, increase property deductibles to $5,000 across the board, and keep auto physical damage deductibles unchanged; the motion passed unanimously.
County Engineer Dave Scanlan later noted he will discuss construction insurance for three Secondary Roads buildings with John Riherd. The Board approved claims and adjourned to a June 30 meeting date.
