The Cerro Gordo County Board of Supervisors on May 18 held two public hearings and approved two zone-change requests that will permit parcel reconfigurations and sales.
In the first hearing, staff described a proposal to reestablish and survey Parcel B and to rezone about 4.97 acres from A-1 to A-2 so the owner of adjacent Parcel A can buy Parcel B. Planning staff said the county’s Board of Zoning Adjustment (B&Z) recommended approval unanimously and that county staff also recommended approval. With no public comment, the board closed the hearing and approved Resolution 2026-28 to adopt the requested zoning change.
In a separate hearing, planning staff introduced applicant Dwayne Schlicking, who proposed surveying Parcel D and selling it to a neighboring owner; staff reported unanimous B&Z support and a staff recommendation to approve. With no public input, the board closed the public portion and approved Resolution 2026-29.
Tom, a county staff member who presented the hearings, summarized the applicants’ intentions and the planning commission’s unanimous recommendation. “My understanding is the farmland to the west... will be sold to the res from A1 egg to A2,” Tom said during the presentation (transcript phrasing corrected here to describe a rezone from A-1 to A-2 to reflect standard zoning labels).
Both measures passed by voice vote; no roll-call tallies were recorded in the transcript.
Next steps for both requests will follow standard recording and permitting procedures at the county planning office.
