Deephaven council approves marina fee increases for 2025

The Deephaven City Council on Oct. 21 approved an amendment to the city marina ordinance that advances the next step in a multi-year fee schedule and raises several 2025 marina rates.
City Administrator Dan Madsen briefed the council on the amendment, noting the fee schedule was originally set in 2021 with projected increases through 2026. Staff recommended waiving a second reading under ordinance 200.10, subdivision 1, based on prior council discussions.
The council was presented with the planned 2025 rates. Staff described them as follows: dock spaces increasing $200 to a total of $1,800; shore space increasing $15 to $115; B1 slides increasing $25 to $400; B2 slides increasing $25 to $275; street-end slips increasing $25 to $275; buoys increasing $25 to $575. Canoe rack spaces were presented to remain at $100 each. The council did not present additional amendments during the meeting.
Councilmember Emily Scherschligt moved to approve the amendment to Ordinance No. 4-89, section 59 (City Code section 405.05). The motion carried; Mayor Kent Carlson and Councilmembers Scherschligt and John Studer voted in favor.
By approving the amendment and waiving the second reading as allowed by ordinance 200.10 subdivision 1, the council set the 2025 marina rates as presented. The ordinance text approved references Amendment to Ordinance No. 4-89, section 59, 405.05 of the Deephaven City Code. The council did not specify an effective date beyond identifying the changes as the 2025 step in the fee schedule.
