The Cedar County Board of Supervisors on June 16 adopted Resolution 2026-06-02 authorizing the County Auditor to issue weekly county checks to Midwest Group Benefits to expedite payment of self-funded health insurance claims under a new administration agreement.
The resolution notes that Midwest Group Benefits will provide a weekly check register of claims due to providers to the County Auditor and that the vendor will not issue payments until it receives a county check in the approved amount. To avoid delays in provider payment the board authorized the Auditor to execute a county check to Midwest Group Benefits each week in the amount approved by the Auditor; documentation reflecting each check will be provided to the board for notation in the official minutes.
Supervisor Kaufmann moved to approve the resolution and Supervisor Bixler seconded the motion. The measure passed with all supervisors present voting aye; Supervisors Gaul and Barnhart were absent. The agreement with Midwest Group Benefits is effective July 1, 2026, according to the resolution language presented at the meeting.
