Property Manager Helene Lulich reviewed the parcel—s history, saying it had been offered at auction and received bids above the minimum asking price before being withdrawn at the City—s request; she added that the Assessor—s Office later reassessed the property upward based on neighboring sales. "The parcel had previously been offered through auction and had received bids exceeding the minimum asking price before being withdrawn at the City's request," Lulich summarized.
Forestry Director Dave Streeter said the tract offers limited forestry value because of access constraints and relatively low timber productivity, suggesting acquisition of more productive timberland may better serve County forestry operations. Commissioner Gary L. Richardson observed the parcel—s highest and best long-term use may be recreational given its proximity to existing City trail systems.
Participants discussed appraisal considerations, trail expansion opportunities and potential transfer, sale, exchange or easement arrangements. No decision was made; staff agreed to gather additional information on appraisal costs, recreational opportunities, and policy direction for future discussion.
