City plans Reinhart Park Fourth of July program; county to support transit and courthouse lighting

City and County officials said on June 23 that the City—s annual Fourth of July celebration will be held at Reinhart Volunteer Park and that both governments will provide support in their respective capacities.
City Manager Aaron Kubik said the event has grown and will include food vendors, entertainment and fireworks; the City will issue a proclamation recognizing the nation—s 250th anniversary. "We welcome participation by County Commissioners during event activities if desired," Kubik said.
Commissioner Colene M. Martin said the County plans to help with transportation through Josephine County Transit and to decorate and illuminate the Courthouse in recognition of the anniversary. Participants agreed a formal joint event would be difficult to organize at this stage, but that both organizations would contribute to community celebrations.
No funding allocations or formal intergovernmental agreement were approved during the meeting; staff-level coordination was the immediate next step.
