Wood County Sheriff's Office expands leadership training with Midstate Technical College

Ellis credited instructor Ted Melby with developing a curriculum customized for the department after meetings with Sheriff Becker and department leaders. "He really took the time to develop it and tailor it to our department," Ellis said, adding that the training aims to develop leaders who do not need a title to lead.
Ellis said the program offers both leadership skills and additional services through Midstate, including life-skill and coaching sessions and HSED classes for jail inmates. He described the partnership as "phenomenal" and said the department will look to expand training beyond current participants.
No personnel actions or promotions were announced in the interview; Ellis framed the program as part of ongoing workforce development and leadership cultivation within the department.
