Resident urges flashing speed signs on County Road 61 at blind crest

"Flashing speed limit signs would provide a clear and consistent visual cue that this is an area where drivers need to slow down and pay attention," Cowgill said, urging the county to act before a serious crash occurs. She added that GPS navigation frequently routes commercial vehicles and tourists onto County Road 61 as a cut‑through rather than keeping them on Highway 34, leading unfamiliar drivers to treat the route like a higher‑speed road.
County staff and commissioners acknowledged the concern, noted ongoing outreach to mapping services, and said the comment would be forwarded to Road and Bridge and relevant staff for follow‑up. The chair thanked Cowgill for the comment.
