HOOSAC VALLEY REGIONAL — The Hoosac Valley Regional School District maintenance subcommittee met Sept. 8 for an elementary-school walkthrough that documented summer work and set a list of building priorities.
The minutes state that two new boilers were installed over the summer and are "waiting on inspection date for boiler to get them tagged." Contractor Titan performed slate-roof and gutter repairs but will return to address a few small leaks and a section that still requires stap replacement, according to the meeting record. Several classrooms were repainted and hallways patched; the minutes say routine repairs will continue during school breaks.
District maintenance identified the elementary building's main roof as a high-priority need: the record notes the roof is more than 40 years old and the district plans to pursue the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) Accelerated Repair program during the 2027 cycle to fund a replacement. Other items on the priority list include refinishing auditorium and gym floors, repairing broken auditorium seats, repointing masonry damaged by poor-functioning gutters, tree trimming at the building front and playground, rear sidewalk and curb repair, and drywall and light-fixture repairs in stairwells and basements.
The minutes do not record formal motions, votes, or a timeline for when the district will submit an MSBA application; the entry lists the main roof replacement as a future planning item for the next MSBA cycle.
The meeting adjourned at 7:00 p.m.; the minutes are signed "Respectfully submitted, Aaron Dean, Superintendent."
