Parks Director Lina Hicks explained that the $15,000 had previously been authorized by council and the amendment clarifies how the funds will be spent: $8,500 to cover parade barriers lining the route, $2,500 to cover overtime compensation for six additional city staff, and $4,000 allocated to the chamber for hiring security and event staffing. “So the funds have already been authorized by council. This would just kind of break it up of how we're going to spend it,” Hicks said.
A councilmember moved to approve Resolution 1881 and it was seconded; by voice vote the resolution passed with no opposition recorded in the transcript. The action authorizes the mayor to sign the amendment and directs staff to proceed with the described allocations.
