The Franklin County Legislature unanimously authorized acceptance of a $192,534 Summer Youth Employment allocation on June 18 and approved contracting with Catholic Charities of Franklin County to administer the program.
Resolution No. 139, offered by the Human Resources Committee, notes the allocation is 100% reimbursable. The Commissioner of Social Services will retain $160,284 for wages and fringe for participating youths and contract $32,250 with Catholic Charities of Franklin County to administer the program. The resolution includes budget appropriations for salary, fringe, FICA, and unemployment line items and authorizes the County Manager and the Commissioner of Social Services, upon County Attorney review, to enter into a contract with Catholic Charities to administer the Summer Youth Employment Program. The motion was made by Legislator Lauzon and seconded by Legislator Lockwood and adopted unanimously.
Next steps: staff will finalize and execute the contract with Catholic Charities after County Attorney review and proceed to implement the Summer Youth Employment placements under the approved budget.
