Committee members invited athletics staff and students to recognize a standout spring: both boys' and girls' lacrosse teams won state championships, captains were lauded for leadership, and Deer Hill student Nicholas described winning a national shot‑put title on his final throw.
Athletic director and coach Steve reviewed team success and praised the program's culture. Students Max Monahan and others described memorable moments and next steps for college and prep year plans. Committee members congratulated the teams and encouraged continued community support.
Separately, Mr. Rotundi and Alison Corbett presented an athletics handbook produced by an Athletics Advisory Committee made up of parents, coaches and students. The handbook brings together MIAA rules, clarifies expectations for boosters, formalizes volunteer‑coach vetting (fingerprinting, required trainings, CPR) and recommends an online listing of committee members so families know points of contact. The advisory group also floated a Cohasset Athletics Partnership to centralize fundraising and potentially reduce event fees.
The handbook is intended as a living document; committee members asked staff to post advisory membership and make the document available online for families to reference.
