West Milwaukee president reports IHOP structural damage, meets with West Allis officials

Village President Stalewski and Administrator Kim Egan briefed the Village Board on intergovernmental talks and local property concerns at the Oct. 20 meeting.
Stalewski said he and Administrator Kim Egan met with Patrick Schloss, West Allis city development director, and Erin Hirn, West Allis city administrator, to discuss common issues and possible future collaboration. Stalewski said he would update the board if follow‑up develops.
Separately, Stalewski reported that the IHOP restaurant in the village has sustained extensive water damage to interior walls and kitchen areas, with structural studs deteriorating in the bottom 2–3 feet. He said a structural engineer needs to assess the building and that the restaurant will likely remain closed for an extended period.
Administrator Kim Egan also reported that the Community Development Authority approved three applications at a recent meeting and that a Joint Review Board meeting to review tax incremental districts is scheduled for Nov. 11 at noon. She said the Department of Transportation will host a virtual briefing for elected officials at 10 a.m. on Oct. 21 about the I‑94 east‑west leg construction. Administrator Egan noted the MADACC budget will be finalized after its Oct. 21 full board meeting and described upcoming pre‑construction meetings for sidewalks and Burnham projects.
The board did not take additional action on these informational items during the session.
