Groesbeck council unanimously approves warrant for fire truck, EDC agreement and ARPA repair funding

The Groesbeck City Council on Tuesday approved several routine and financial items in a 15-minute meeting that opened at 6:00 p.m. and adjourned at 6:15 p.m.
Mayor Matthew D. Dawley presented Resolution No. 24-R-04 authorizing the issuance of a City of Groesbeck warrant to Farmers State Bank to provide funds for payment obligations related to a 2016 Spartan fire truck. The minutes state a principal amount of $204,994.61 and that the warrant is to be due within 12 months; the minutes include inconsistent interest language (the text references "seven & one-quarter percent" while another parenthetical lists 6.5%), which the minutes do not reconcile. Councilmember Warren Anglin moved approval, Councilmember Tamikia Jackson seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
The council also approved Resolution No. 24-R-05, authorizing execution of a performance agreement with the Groesbeck Economic Development Corporation (EDC). The resolution was moved by Tamikia Jackson, seconded by Warren Anglin, and passed without opposition.
On other business the council unanimously approved a proclamation recognizing National Night Out and approved use of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to repair a smaller ground storage tank. The minutes record the funding source (ARPA) but do not specify an estimated repair cost, vendor or timeline.
City Administrator Chris Henson used the meeting's closing remarks to note upcoming meetings and events including the Texas Municipal League (TML) Region 9 meeting in McGregor on Aug. 22 and the TML conference in Houston Oct. 9'11. With no further business, the council adjourned at 6:15 p.m.
