The Village of West Milwaukee Board on Dec. 15 approved a five-year, 0% interest lease with Motorola Solutions Incorporated to finance new police radio equipment for $422,222.
Trustee Greenfield moved to approve Resolution 11-R-25, and Trustee Schuettke seconded. The motion passed on a roll-call vote with Trustees Greenfield, Schuettke, Edgar, Schaefer, Hill and President Stalewski voting aye; Trustee Ragonese was excused.
The lease was the largest finance item on the agenda. Trustee Greenfield described the agreement as “a 0% interest, five year payment plan, with Motorola for the radio equipment for the Police Department in the amount of $422,222,” language read into the record during the motion.
Why it matters: The radios are a capital equipment upgrade for public safety; financing spreads the cost over five years with no interest, affecting future budget commitments.
In the same finance batch the board approved commercial vouchers (checks numbered 35132–35164) totaling $97,597.73 and the biweekly payroll dated Dec. 12, 2025, in the amount of $167,890.32. Trustee Greenfield noted the payroll total was higher than usual because of vacation payouts and overtime for snow-plow operations.
The board also approved a Green Infrastructure tree-planting bid to Dan Larson Landscaping Inc. for $16,348, which was presented as a recommended award from the Finance Committee.
Procedural note: Each of the motions passed by roll call with the same members participating; Trustee Ragonese was excused for the meeting.
Next steps: Resolution 11-R-25 becomes part of the village’s capital financing schedule; the board will account for the lease payments in upcoming budgets.
