Plan Commission approvals set December public hearings for gas pumps, parcel combinations and vet clinic

Administrator Kim Egan reported the Plan Commission approved conditions for two gas pumps at Beloit Market, recommended combining two parcels by CSM, approved a conditional use for National Veterinary at 42nd and Greenfield, and scheduled public hearings for December. Trustees also agreed to explore a relationship with West Allis on retail analytics and consider hiring an economic development employee.
Administrator Kim Egan told the Village Board on Nov. 17 that the Plan Commission approved conditions allowing two gas pumps at Beloit Market and recommended a certified survey map to combine two parcels at that site; the board will hold a public hearing on the matter in December.
Egan also said the Plan Commission reviewed and recommended a CSM to combine a parking lot and building parcel on 38th Street and approved a conditional use for National Veterinary at the former Family Dollar site at 42nd and Greenfield. Those items will be scheduled for Village Board public hearings in December.
President Stalewski described an October Municipality Magazine report on technology and said West Allis had provided retail-tenant analytics and cell-phone tracking tools that could help identify potential tenants for the Komatsu site. Trustee Schaefer suggested revisiting hiring an economic development employee to use such tools, proposing Tourism dollars or property purchases as possible funding mechanisms. The board reached consensus to discuss the idea at a future Legislative Committee meeting and invite the West Allis contact "Patrick" to present.
No formal board action was taken on the staffing suggestion at the Nov. 17 meeting; the Plan Commission recommendations proceed to public hearings as noticed.
