Timber Pines resident urges clarity on water-system easement; council schedules coordination with EGLE and engineers

Bonnie Long, treasurer of the Timber Pines homeowners association, used the public-comment period at the May 11 Village of Pellston council meeting to press the council for details on the water-system easement and to ask whether Timber Pines’ roads could be repaired as part of a Village takeover during the water-system construction.
"I questioned the status of the water system easement and the possibility of fixing our roads through Timber Pines during the water system construction process," Long said during public comment.
President Jim Gillett responded that he would coordinate a Zoom meeting with OHM engineers (Steve Warren and Alica Busuttil) on May 14 to discuss the easement and related construction sequencing. The council had earlier asked members to attend a same-night school board meeting where EGLE planned an informational presentation and an easement discussion.
Clerk Rebecca O’Neil later noted an EGLE Finding of No Significant Impact (FNSI) included in the meeting materials; the FNSI required any public comments be submitted by May 21 to Joel Felsk or Dan Beauchamp at EGLE. O’Neil also said documents related to the project had been published on the Village website.
The council did not vote on any easement or road-takeover measures at the May 11 meeting; it scheduled the technical coordination meeting and signaled that subsequent meetings (including the school board session and the OHM Zoom) would be the venues to resolve engineering, easement, and possible road-improvement questions.
